Little Company of Mary Health Care Ltd (Calvary) proposes to acquire the business and assets of Holmesglen Private Hospital (Holmesglen Private) from Healthscope.
Calvary is a not-for-profit operator of public and private hospitals in Australia. Calvary operates one healthcare facility in Victoria, Calvary Health Care Bethlehem, a publicly-funded facility located in Caulfield South. Calvary Bethlehem provides healthcare services for patients with progressive neurodegenerative disease, as well as for palliative care more broadly.
Holmesglen Private is a private hospital located in Moorabbin, which is currently operated by Healthscope. In May 2025, Healthscope’s parent entities went into voluntary administration, and receivers and administrators were appointed by its lenders and the Healthscope Board, respectively, to conduct an orderly sale of the hospitals in its network.
Holmesglen Private is an acute care facility with 147 beds offering a 24/7 Emergency Department, intensive care unit, and coronary care unit. It provides a wide range of surgical and medical services including cardiology, orthopaedic and general surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Holmesglen Private does not have a palliative care unit.
