Coles Group Limited (Coles) is an Australian public company (ASX:COL) that primarily operates supermarkets and liquor stores. Coles also has a property development arm, Coles Group Property Developments Ltd (CGPD), that buys land and constructs shopping centres, supermarkets and liquor outlets to then sell to third party buyers. Powercor Australia Ltd (Powercor) is the electricity distribution company responsible for electricity distribution in the Yarrawonga area.
CGPD is finalising fit-out works for a new Coles supermarket and Liquorland at Kaiela Business Park, 14 Frank Drive, Yarrawonga VIC 3730 (Coles Yarrawonga), scheduled to open on 27 May 2026. Powercor proposes to sell CGPD a small parcel of land (approximately 52 square metres) located adjacent to Coles Yarrawonga, at (Res 2) Frank Drive, Yarrawonga, which is used as an electricity substation.
Powercor will retain ownership of all substation infrastructure. Upon settlement, CGPD will grant Powercor a long-term lease to operate the substation (the Acquisition). The Acquisition is being undertaken at Powercor’s request to facilitate the provision of permanent power to Coles Yarrawonga.
